Book Review: It ends with Us

It ends with us by Colleen Hoover, a book

which made me feel all kinds of emotions , it made me happy, angry, sad basically it tore apart my heart and then stitched it back. It is also kind of very personal to the author herself as its based upon true events.

The book talks about sexual abuse and abusive marital relationships. it also answers a very frequently asked question that why people go back to their abusive partners? Why they don’t leave their partner when they first time lash upon them? A story how a mother suffered her whole life but never left his husband and how it shaped their daughter. As it’s a romance book as well the love between Ryle and Lily is to die for, a handsome neurologist, a perfect partner but to what extent? To know this you need to read the book. I’m sure Ryle was a relatable character for many of us out there, as he say

There is no such thing as bad people. We’re all just people who sometimes do bad things.”

Also I loved how Lily decides to go after her dream and finally realizes it in the best possible way. The friendship between Alyssa and Lily is so beautiful and Alyssa proves herself a true best friend. Lily mother’s character was of great significance. How she suffered but never left her husband partly because of her daughter and partly because she loved him. Atlas has to be my fav character out of all. The teenage love between Lily and Atlas that never left both of them. I loved how Atlas dealt with all the circumstances and his love for Lily was something else. How he waited all the years for her and nothing could change his love for her.

In the end when Ryle and Lily daughter was born and she asks him for divorce it broke me and Ryle. His character was like that I understood why Lily forgive him again and again but now for the sake of her daughter she won’t let it happen again and I am so proud of her for being so courageous. Loved how in the end as it ends with us the writer gave us hope for a new start. Indeed every ending is nothing but a new beginning. It was one of my favorite and beautiful moment when Atlas said:

You can stop swimming now, Lily. We finally reached the shore.”

Loved this book and cherished every page of it. It taught me to keep swimming, to keep going no matter what are the circumstances it going to get better hopefully.

Will gladly give it 4 stars out 5.
