OPPO sets a launch date for the Reno4 series as a possible 12GB variant leaks onto Geekbench
OPPO has announced that the Reno4 series of smartphones will launch on June 5, 2020. This line is currently thought to have vanilla and Pro variants. One of them may have found its way onto Geekbench 5, which reveals it may have 12GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 765G processor.
OPPO has decided to update its Reno series of phones already, despite the fact its 3rd generation has only been around since December 2019. Its successors are thought to follow it in having base and Pro models. However, they are thought to differ greatly in terms of design: the new 4 line's leaks show that its rear cameras are split into individual modules like those of the LG Velvet.
However, unlike this new mid-ranger, OPPO is rumored to have gone with separate lens-circles that are also raised considerably above the body of the phone. This possibly polarizing tweak is not the only way in which they may bring their potential South Korean competition to mind, however. A new listing on Geekbench suggests that they will also exhibit the same SoC.
This set of benchmarking results are for an "OPPO PDNM00", one of 4 new model numbers reportedly certified by this OEM with TENAA. They also include the PDPM00, PDNT00 and PDPT00, and are currently all believed to belong to the upcoming Reno series. The one among their number recently detected on this site has been detected as having 12GB of RAM.
It also apparently runs on a Qualcomm chipset identified by the code-name lito, last seen in Geekbench entries associated with the LG Velvet. This moniker, as it turned out, corresponded to the Snapdragon 765G. Therefore, it seems that OPPO has gone with this platform for at least 1 member of the 4 series - which, as it already powers the Reno3 Pro 5G, is a little odd. Perhaps the company will explain this apparent choice at its early June 2020 event for its possible successor.
